When GLF Genarp decided to invest in a new pallet machine, Mychrome was the only supplier able to meet the company’s specific requirements. The machine needed to fit into a compact space and allow for rapid changeovers between different pallet sizes.
GLF Genarp AB is an established third-generation family company providing various types of wooden packaging. The company operates several factories in its home market of Sweden as well as in Poland, employing a total of 200 people. When the time came to invest in new equipment for one of the Swedish plants in 2020, Mychrome quickly became the preferred choice.
“We needed a flexible machine. It had to fit within a quite small layout in an existing factory, and it needed to be easily adjustable for manufacturing pallets of different sizes. Mychrome met all our requirements”, says CEO and owner Johan Wester.
GLF already operates a mix of in-house built machines and equipment from other suppliers, but these do not match the efficiency of Mychrome’s solutions. Typically, machines that meet the company’s efficiency standards require too much floor space.
“Large Southern European manufacturers can produce very efficient machines, but they take up twice as much space as Mychrome’s. Therefore, they weren’t a viable option for us”, Wester explains.

The machine delivered by Mychrome was commissioned in 2021 and currently runs 24/7 on weekdays. Since GLF manufactures pallets in 30–40 different sizes, rapid changeover capability is essential.
“Switching the machine from one pallet size to another takes anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours, depending on the extent of the change. This is vital for us, as we offer a wide range of pallets”, says Wester.
The machine is highly efficient, capable of producing up to 1,400 pallets in an eight-hour shift.

A higher level of automation is important to GLF, not only because it improves production efficiency, but also because it aids in recruitment.
“In Sweden, it is challenging to attract people to manual labor. Now that the machine has a higher degree of automation and settings are less manual, it is easier for us to find new employees.”
