Armagh Timber Products boosted efficiency and quality with Mychrome technology

When Armagh Timber Products decided it was time to modernise its pallet manufacturing operations, their search for a reliable solution led them to Mychrome. Combining cutting-edge automation with exceptional value for money, Mychrome enabled the company to triple production output.

Before partnering with Mychrome, Armagh Timber Products relied on two old IM Hart machines that struggled to meet rising demand. When the search for new equipment began, the family-owned pallet manufacturer based in Northern Ireland quickly turned to Mychrome for top-tier performance at a competitive price.

– We looked at other machines, but they were often two times the price. We believe Mychrome is the best value for money you will buy in pallet manufacturing machinery, says Eamon Gribben, Managing Director of Armagh Timber Products.

Armagh Timber Products’ new fully automated four-way nailing line was designed and built in close collaboration with Mychrome’s engineering team.

– We visited the factory in Finland early in the process. They were very helpful and willing to come up with a design that suited our facility. The result is a line that fits our space perfectly and runs smoothly every day, Gribben says.

The new Mychrome line has transformed production, tripling the previous daily output of 450 pallets. Other major benefits include the line’s flexible layout, user-friendly interface, and the ability to switch between pallet types in just minutes.

– Our operators learned to use it within weeks. The software is intuitive, and troubleshooting is straightforward. As a result, the line now operates smoothly with just three operators instead of the eight we needed before, adds Brian O’Rourke, Operations Director.

Energy efficiency also played a role in the decision. Mychrome’s electric nailing heads have significantly reduced energy consumption compared to traditional hydraulic systems. Equally important was Mychrome’s short delivery time and hands-on support.

– When the line was delivered, Mychrome’s technicians were on site to make sure everything worked perfectly. Afterwards, whenever we had a question, they were only a phone call away. That kind of reliability is invaluable, Gribben notes.

The collaboration has been so successful that Armagh Timber Products is already discussing a second line with Mychrome.

– We’re now talking with Mychrome about a two-way line. The fact that we are already talking to Mychrome about designing a second line says volumes about how impressed we are, Gribben concludes.

– The result is a line that fits our space perfectly and runs smoothly every day
